It houses over 60,000 works by 5,000 artists, making it one of the largest collections of modern art in Central Europe. The museum showcases a diverse range of post-1945 art, featuring iconic Austrian artists like Maria Lassnig and Hermann Nitsch, alongside international figures such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Damien Hirst, and Anselm Kiefer.
Opened after a significant renovation funded by patron Hans Peter Haselsteiner, Albertina Modern offers wide-ranging exhibitions drawn from its own holdings, including the Essl and Jablonka Collections, and temporary shows of world-class modern art. It is situated just a few minutes from the original Albertina Museum, providing a dedicated space for modern and contemporary art in Vienna’s cultural scene.
