Bodega La Geria – Lanzarote’s Iconic Volcanic Winery
Bodega La Geria is one of the most visited wineries in Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain, located in the heart of the La Geria wine region near Timanfaya National Park. Founded at the end of the 19th century by the Rijo family and now run by the Melián family, the winery blends traditional vine cultivation with modern winemaking, producing around 300,000 bottles annually under the Vinos de Lanzarote D.O. using local grapes like Malvasía Volcánica, Listán Negro and Moscatel de Alejandría.
Visitors can enjoy guided tours through the vineyards and cellar, wine tastings, a shop and a café-bar with scenic volcanic views, plus the unique experience of tasting wines grown in volcanic ash vineyards — a must-see for wine lovers touring Lanzarote’s volcanic landscapes.

A fascinating insight into wine production in Lanzarote.
The first thing you see as you approach the winery is the semi circular walls which protect the vines which are growing in what are essentially holes in the ground.
The vines and anything else grow horizontally rather than vertically as evidenced by the lemon tree.
Production is not huge and the wine serves the Canaries.
Personally while I enjoyed the wine tasting and found them quite palatable I did think they were a little too light for my taste
